NEC Corporation Establishes Global Safety Division in Singapore; Appoints Tan Boon Chin to Lead the New Division

NEC Corporation has established a Global Safety Division in Singapore as the Global Strategic Headquarters for NECs Public Safety Business. The Global Safety Division will focus on growing and developing the company's expertise in public safety, an area which has attracted a great deal of attention and investment by governments around the world. The new division will devise global business strategy, develop new technologies and solutions and provide training and technical support for subsidiaries and partners worldwide. The new division was established in Singapore in order to conveniently access important markets, to capitalize on the business experience and capabilities of the public safety team, and to further enhance its capabilities, as Singapore is an open ground for attracting global talent. With the establishment of the Global Safety Division, NEC will continue to promote the expansion of business and to contribute to the public safety of cities worldwide.
Mr. Tan Boon Chin, Managing Director of the Regional Competency Centre for Public Safety in NEC Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, has been appointed to lead the new division.
NEC Corporation specializes in the manufacturing and marketing computing and telecommunication equipments. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- IT services (53.9%): integration, maintenance, outsourcing, support services, etc.;
- sale of IT infrastructure products and network systems (17%). In addition, the group provides network services;
- sale of digital government and financial services software (14.9%);
- other (12.7%): sale of hardware, mobile telephones, lighting products, energy management and storage systems, etc.
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: Japan (75%), Asia/Pacific (11.2%), Europe/Middle East/Africa (9.8%) and Americas (4%).
