McDonald's Corp. on Friday said it is including diversity metrics in its 2022 target incentive plan awards for executives.

The company said the new metrics will apply to several executives, including Christopher Kempczinski, president and chief executive; Joseph Erlinger, president of McDonald's USA; and Ian Borden, president, international.

McDonald's said it will measure executives on metrics related to championing core values, improving diversity representation, and creating a strong culture of inclusion.

McDonald's said primary 2022 TIP metrics will be operating income growth and systemwide sales growth, accounting for 42.5% each, and human capital metrics, accounting for 15%.

Certain of the company's executives will receive an increased 2022 TIP payout if they increase the diversity in the franchisee pipeline to a specified level, McDonald's said.
