SPARKS, Md., April 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- McCormick & Company, Incorporated (NYSE: MKC), a global leader in flavor, today announced that Brenda Frese will deliver the keynote address at the 76(th) Annual McCormick Unsung Heroes Awards Banquet to be held on Monday, May 2 at the Valley Mansion in Hunt Valley.
Ms. Frese is the Head Coach of University of Maryland Women's Basketball, and has held several head coaching positions throughout her career. She has consistently kept Maryland Basketball at the top of the NCAA women's rankings and in winning seasons since 2002 through her strong coaching and recruitment programs. Ms. Frese led the Lady Terps to an NCAA Championship title in 2006.
The Unsung Heroes banquet honors deserving female basketball players and male football players. A total of 108 high school seniors from 69 Baltimore area public, private, parochial and independent schools have been nominated. Two of the honorees--one male and one female--will each receive the 2016 Charles Perry McCormick Scholarship, valued at $40,000 over four academic years.
Originally established in 1940 by former Chairman C.P. McCormick, the program recognizes unselfish team play and honors those who contribute substantially to the success of their teams without receiving acclaim. The program is reflective of McCormick & Company's core belief in the Power of People.
More than 700 city and county officials, school administrators, coaches, honorees and guests are expected to attend this year's event.
