Maruti Suzuki announced that it plans to unveil its new hatchback at the upcoming Indian Auto Expo in February. The model, codenamed YL7, will also be the international model from Suzuki to make its global debut in India. The model will replace Maruti's Alto (sold globally as the A-Star) and Zen Estilo models.

The YL7 will be powered by Suzuki's 3-cylinder K10 gasoline (petrol) engine that can also be found in the Alto and A-Star. The company plans to develop a 1.5-litre diesel engine to power its compact sport utility vehicle (SUV).
