LyondellBasell Industries N.V. reported earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2022. For the second quarter, the company reported sales was USD 14,838 million compared to USD 11,561 million a year ago. Revenue was USD 14,838 million compared to USD 11,561 million a year ago. Net income was USD 1,643 million compared to USD 2,058 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 5 compared to USD 6.13 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 4.98 compared to USD 6.12 a year ago. Basic earnings per share was USD 5 compared to USD 6.14 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share was USD 4.98 compared to USD 6.13 a year ago.
For the six months, sales was USD 27,995 million compared to USD 20,643 million a year ago. Revenue was USD 27,995 million compared to USD 20,643 million a year ago. Net income was USD 2,961 million compared to USD 3,126 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 9.01 compared to USD 9.33 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 8.99 compared to USD 9.32 a year ago. Basic earnings per share was USD 9 compared to USD 9.33 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share was USD 8.98 compared to USD 9.32 a year ago.
LyondellBasell Industries N.V. is one of the world's largest chemical groups. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- production of olefins and polyolefin (50.2%): ethylene, propylene, butadiene, polypropylene components, etc.;
- manufacturing of intermediate chemical products (21.6%): propylene oxide, acetyl, ethanol, ethylene oxide, etc.;
- refining of highly sulfide crude oil (15.6%): activity ensured in the Gulf Coast region of the United States. The group also produces oxy-fuel;
- manufacturing of advanced polymer solutions (11.1%): polypropylene compounds, engineering plastics, composite materials, advanced polymers, etc. ;
- development of chemical and polyolefin process technologies (1.5%). The group also manufactures polyolefin catalysts.
At the end of 2021, the group had 34 production sites worldwide.
Net sales break down geographically as follows: the Netherlands (3%), the United States (48.8%), Germany (7.4%), China (5%), Italy (4%), Mexico (3.4%), Japan (3.1%), France (3%), Poland (2.5%) and other (19.8%).
