The US Air Force and Lockheed Martin recently conducted a flight test of the Mk21A reentry vehicle in the Pacific Ocean from Vandenberg Space Base in California.

The Mk21A is billed as a critical component of the future Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system.

The test was designed to evaluate Lockheed Martin's Mk21A components and technologies, underlining their expertise in reentry vehicles.

Lockheed Martin says the Mk21A program is progressing on schedule, benefiting from the use of advanced digital engineering tools to optimize system cost, risk and performance.
