Lanner Electronics announced its partnership with Ekinops to develop a highly flexible universal customer premise equipment (uCPE). The partnership enables Lanner x86 network server NCA-4010 to be pre-validated with Ekinops' Open Virtualization Platform (OVP), addressing the new challenges for communication service providers (CSPs) in the age of virtualization with a consolidated, cost-effective, and NFV-ready uCPE for PaaS (Platform as a Service) and SD-WAN deployments. The Open Virtualization Platform (OVP) software, part of Ekinops' OneAccess brand solution portfolio, is a carrier-grade virtualization infrastructure running on x86 uCPE to deliver flexible and virtualized services on-demand for CSPs.

The OVP leverages open source software as its foundation to support third-party Virtualized Network Functions (VNFs) and enables service-chaining of networking VMs. Its easily programmable software environment consolidates and dramatically simplifies the creation, management and delivery of NFV-based services and SD-WAN. In short, OVP consolidates all networking services onto a single Intel x86 uCPE hardware server to realize PaaS.
