The opening ceremony for Wuhan University Transmission Electron Microscope with Spherical Aberration Correction and the commemoration ceremony for the opening of the Wuhan University/JEOL Collaboration Laboratory was held on November 21, 2017 at the Wuhan University Center for Electron Microscopy. The Executive Director of the Center for Electron Microscopy, Professor Jianbo Wang, presided at the event, which included a conference that was attended by nearly 60 specialists and scholars from 21 organizations near Wuhan University.
At the opening ceremony, Pingxiang Li, director of the Institute for Technological Sciences at Wuhan University and Koichi Fukuyama, Director & Senior Executive Officer at JEOL gave the opening addresses, expressing everyone's great expectations for the collaborative research.
Professor Jianbo Wang introduced the Wuhan University Center for Electron Microscopy and the equipment at the center. He also announced that 'The completion of the installation and commissioning of the JEM-ARM200F transmission electron microscope with spherical aberration correction offering world-leading atomic level resolution heralds the start of a new development stage at the Center for Electron Microscopy. Next year, we are planning to introduce NEOARM, an atomic resolution transmission electron microscope with spherical aberration corrector that can be remotely controlled, as well as a JEM-F200 200kV field emission transmission electron microscope.'
Many Electron microscopy experts from China and Japan were invited to the conference to particpate in academic discussions. There were many excellent presentations, including those given by Professor He Zheng of the School of Physics and Technology at Wuhan University, Professor Eiichi Nakamura of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Tokyo, Professor Yihua Gao of Huazhong University of Science & Technology, Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, Graduate Faculty of Physics, Shu Miao of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Associate Professor Luying Li of Huazhong University of Science & Technology, and Dr. Eiji Okunishi of JEOL.
