• Company records sales of 31,398 vehicles with a market share of 10.3% in 2016
  • Accent leads all Hyundai Motor models with 10,987 units sold

January 12, 2017 - Hyundai Motor Company announced that it has topped last year's sales chart in Chile for the first time ever. According to the National Automotive Association of Chile's (ANAC) final retail sales figures for passenger vehicles, Hyundai Motor sold a total of 31,398 units, achieving a market share of 10.3% for 2016. The accomplishment comes after a strong December sales record, as Hyundai Motor led all brands with 3,365 units sold which represents a market share of 10.6%.

Key factors that contributed to the impressive sales in Chile were aggressive and innovative marketing programs, attractive and differentiated vehicle design, application of cutting edge safety technologies as well as the indisputable quality coupled with a 5 year / 100,000 kilometer warranty. The support and service offered by Automotive Gildemeister, Hyundai Motor's Chilean distributor, also played a significant part.

The expansion of product line-up further helped to boost sales, as the New Elantra and Grand i10 Sedan, the new Creta SUV and the i20 Active were newly introduced to the Chilean market last year. Meanwhile, the new IONIQ Hybrid was brought to the local market in July, appealing to eco-conscious consumers.

The Accent led all Hyundai Motor models with 10,987 units sold, while the Grand i10 (5,464 units) was also popular in the passenger car segment. The New Tucson was the most bought vehicle in the SUV segment, recording 3,716 units.
