Golden Pharos Berhad announced the appointment of Datuk Dr. Yahaya Bin Ibrahim as Independent and Non Executive Director, effective 1 April 2024. Age is 62. Working experience and occupation: He is currently a Fellow at the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

He is a former Professor and Vice Chancellor of Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Terengganu, Malaysia. He was born in Kampung Pantai Batu Rakit, Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia in 1962. He graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia majoring in Urban and Regional Planning.

Later, he continued his Master's studies at the University of Malaya. In 2016, he was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship Award, for the Research Training Program for PhD at the University of Sheffield, UK. He holds 3 degrees in 3 different fields namely Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning, Master of Sociology and Doctor of Philosophy in Economics specializing in Development Studies.

He started his career as an executive in the corporate sector in Kuala Lumpur. From 1992 to mid-2008, he was an academic and professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Bangi. While at UKM, he was also appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of UKM Pakarunding Sdn Bhd, a consulting company owned by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

At the same time he also held the position of President of the Academic Staff Association. He is also one of the founders and members of the National Council of Professors since 2009. In 2009, he was appointed as Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Student and Alumni Affairs, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and then appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Terengganu from January 2013 to December 2016.

In 2017, he was appointed as Adjunct Professor in Asia-e - University in Kuala Lumpur. He holds Doctorate in Doctor of Philosophy in Economic Development Studies from University of Malaya. He holds Master of Art (Sociology) from University of Malaya.
