SHANGHAI, China, Nov. 6, 2014 - Ford China sold 906,613 vehicles in the first ten months of the year, up 22 percent compared to 741,818 sold during the same period last year. Steady sales in October helped the company break the 900,000 sales mark. Ford sold 93,179 vehicles in October compared to 93,969 in October 2013.

Changan Ford (CAF), Ford's passenger car joint venture in China sold 660,566 vehicles in the first ten months of the year, a 23 percent increase from 536,421 sold during the same period last year. CAF sold 69,111 vehicles in October, compared to 70,173 sold in October last year.

The Ford Mondeo nameplate hit a new sales milestone in October, with year-to-date sales breaking the 100,000 mark. The nameplate, which efficiently balances luxury and smart technology, sold 100,482 vehicles in the first ten months of the year, nearly doubling the 51,748 units sold during the same period last year. With 11,550 vehicles sold in October this year, Ford Mondeo sales were up 29 percent from 8,937 in October last year.

Ford sales for imported vehicles-the Ford Explorer, the Ford Edge, the Ford Focus ST and the Ford Fiesta ST-rose by 61 percent in the first ten months of the year. Sales for this exciting lineup of vehicles were up 27 percent in October with 2,622 vehicles sold.

Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), Ford's commercial vehicle investment in China, broke the 200,000 sales mark last month with year-to-date sales reaching 216,300 vehicles, up 16 percent from 186,920 during the same period last year. October sales reached 21,446 compared to 21,724 in October 2013.

To meet continued demand for Ford products in China, this week Ford launched its third assembly plant in Chongqing, China. Representing a U.S. $600 million investment (RMB 3.8 billion), the plant, known as "Chongqing 3," increases passenger vehicle capacity by 360,000 vehicles. The Ford Escort-a new vehicle designed specifically for Chinese customers -was the first vehicle to roll off the Chongqing 3 assembly line.
