BERLIN, Conn. - Multifamily property owners across Connecticut are always looking for ways to reduce expenses, and that includes energy costs. In recognition of their efforts to help these customers better manage their energy, Eversource was recognized today by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) with an Exemplary Energy Efficiency Program award for its Residential Multifamily Initiative. The national award recognizes the best utility programs across the country.

"It is an honor to be recognized by ACEEE for our program, which has been very successful," said Eversource Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer Penni Conner. "We strive to help all of our customers save energy and keep costs down wherever possible, and we will continue working with multifamily property owners on customized energy efficiency solutions that will make their living spaces more comfortable."

ACEEE's national review evaluates and recognizes exemplary programs in areas such as: direct customer energy savings, cost-effectiveness, customer service, innovation, and expansion potential.

Over the last three years, Eversource has increased its number of comprehensive multifamily energy efficiency projects in Connecticut by over 40 percent, connecting approximately 25,000 multifamily customers across the state with solutions for savings that help reduce their energy costs.

Mary Gordon, Property Manager of Hockanum Crossing in Vernon, is one multifamily program participant. "We have 700 apartments, and every single energy-efficiency improvement was knocked out of the park," said Gordon. "From lower utility costs to a brighter, better overall living experience, it gives our residents a reason to stay."

The Eversource Multifamily Initiative, in partnership with Energize Connecticut, offers multifamily property owners:

  • Building assessments to identify energy-saving opportunities for owners and residents, as well as the building as a whole
