Equinor announces that its battery storage asset at Blandford Road (UK) has gone into service, demonstrating Equinor's ambition to provide flexible electricity solutions in the country.

With a storage capacity of 25 MW/50 MWh, Blandford Road is wholly owned by Equinor and will be operated by UK battery storage company Noriker Power, in which Equinor holds a 45% stake.

Comprising around 150 lithium-ion batteries, Blandford Road can store enough electricity to power 75,000 UK homes for two hours.

As a reminder, the UK Energy Security Strategy sets the ambition for 95% of the UK's electricity to be low-carbon by 2030, and battery storage systems can play an important role in this transition.
