(Alliance News) - Datrix Spa announced Tuesday the appointment of Enrico Zio as the group's new scientific director.

The appointment is consequent to Datrix's acquisition of Aramis Srl announced last Feb. 1, a deal that combines the valuable skills of Aramis and 3rdPlace, already part of the Datrix group, and gives shape to the new player "Aramix," with the main objective of developing descriptive, predictive and prescriptive data science models that apply AI to management and industrial processes to make them more efficient.

Enrico Zio, former president and scientific director of the research and development activities carried out by Aramis, is a prominent figure in the international academic scene and the author and co-author of seven books and more than 500 articles in international journals; he is, in addition, chair and vice-chair of numerous international conferences, associate editor and referee of multiple international journals. Zio was honored in 2020 with the international Humboldt Research Award, one of the World's most prestigious research awards for scientific disciplines, and for years has been included in the World's Top 2% Scientists list of the World's most influential scientists, compiled by Stanford University based on indicators of quantity, quality and impact of scientific work produced.

"The entry of Enrico Zio into the Datrix Group contributes to a significant strengthening of the company's competencies, offering the possibility to confront increasingly complex and competitive contexts, both in Italy and abroad. At the same time, the new and innovative reality of Aramix - led by principal Andrea Ronchi - will allow the deep expertise acquired by Aramis over many years of scientific research and industrial development to be put to good use, in complete technical synergy with the excellent IT and Machine Learning & Model Serving skills demonstrated in the field by Datrix," the company explained.

Datrix chief executive officer Fabrizio Milano d'Aragona commented, "The arrival of a professional and scientist of Enrico Zio's experience and expertise certainly gives us further strength and will, in addition, enable the integration of the deep expertise acquired by Aramis over many years of scientific research and industrial development with Datrix's demonstrated excellent IT and Machine Learning & Model Serving skills, in complete technical synergy with Datrix's strategic vision and mission."

"Datrix thus becomes, even more of a leader in the field of innovation, presenting itself as a competent partner to meet the needs of the contemporary and future industrial world as well, while also enhancing its research contribution through its increasingly close relationship with universities and research centers, and further increasing its ability to attract and train new talent."

Datrix's stock is unchanged at EUR2.40 per share.
