CPFL Geracao de Energia SA is a Brazil-based company involved in the electrical energy sector. The Company is primarily engaged in the electric power generation. It has two small hydroelectric plants and one thermoelectric power plant, located in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo. As of December 31, 2011, the Company held direct stakes in a number of companies, including BAESA - Energetica Barra Grande SA, which is engaged in the construction, operation and exploration of hydroelectric power plant on the Pelotas River; Campos Novos Energia SA, which is engaged in the operation, maintenance and administration of hydroelectric power plant on the Canoas River; CERAN - Companhia Energetica Rio das Antas, which is responsible for the construction and operation of the energy complex Rio das Antas, and Centrais Eletricas da Paraiba SA, which aims to develop and operate two fossil fuel power plants, among others.
