On Wednesday 27 June, the 237th Colruyt store opens in Eppegem. The brand-new supermarket is established on the location of the former OKay local store that had become too small to serve its customers properly. All 13 co-workers of the former OKay will work in the new Colruyt. The expansion of the store created 8 new jobs as well. The traffic situation near the store has been adapted, which means there is less traffic trouble.

New traffic situation near store makes traffic smoother and safer

OKay becomes Colruyt

The new Colruyt store replaces the OKay store that closed its doors 3 months ago. It is the first time Colruyt Group replaces one of its local stores with a larger supermarket. 'There was a good reason to do so', store manager Stijn Renders explains. 'In the past few years, we welcomed more and more customers at OKay. So we needed a larger store where they could shop comfortably. I am proud to be the store manager of this brand-new Colruyt.'

Familiar products and faces

'The new store has a surface of ± 1.000 m², 350 m² more than the former OKay. And a larger store means a larger range of products', says the store manager. 'In the Colruyt store, customers can find more fresh meat, fruit and vegetables ... from national brands but also their familiar private labels Boni Selection and Everyday. They will not only find the products they know, but many familiar faces as well. Indeed, my 12 co-workers from the former OKay store and I will set to work in the new Colruyt.' The expansion of the store also creates 8 new jobs.

Smooth and safe traffic

To make the store easily accessible and clear the roads in the neighbourhood, Colruyt adapts the traffic situation with the town council and the Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer (roads and traffic agency). The test set-up with one-way traffic in part of the Kreupelstraat and the Warandeweg is now permanent. Consequently, there is a direct entry from the Brusselsesteenweg to the car park of Colruyt Eppegem. Thanks to these adaptations, traffic near the store will be safer and cause less nuisance.

New: Collect&Go shops for the customers

Colruyt Eppegem has a Collect&Go pick-up point for customers who like to gain time. Collect&Go is a handy Colruyt Group service, where we shop for the customers. They give us their shopping list online or by means of the app. The products are ready for them at the pick-up point by the day and time they chose.

Special open evening

As from Wednesday 27 June, store manager Stijn Renders and his 21 co-workers will be on hand to welcome their first guests at the new Colruyt Eppegem. 'The evening before everyone is most welcome to discover the new store', he says. 'During this special open evening, from 5 to 8 pm, we will gladly offer our customers a snack and a drink. Everyone is most welcome!'
