China Machinery Engineering : Shanghai CMEC Square Caps Its Main Structure

On January 10, 2016, Shanghai CMEC Square capped its main structure. A ceremony was hosted to celebrate this milestone of the construction project, gathering CMEC President Zhang Chun, CFO Zhou Yamin, GM Zhang Tiejun of Shanghai International Freight Transport Co., Ltd., President Xu Biao of Shanghai Construction No.1 (Group) Co., Ltd., Fang Shizhong, district head of Baoshan, Shanghai, the leadership of Gaojing town, as well as CMEC departments concerned, construction units and partners.

At 10:38 a.m., January 10, Mr. Zhang Tiejun declared the opening of the ceremony which started with the speech given by CMEC President Zhang Chun.

According to President Zhang: the Shanghai CMEC Square project is a key part of the company's domestic strategy, and the square will serve as the company's regional trade center, international logistics center and design & consultation center and then gradually grow into its second headquarters by expanding the above business. The construction started on January 18, 2015 and it took 358 days to cap the main structure. This is the fruit of the careful organization and hard work of the project team and the EPC contractor, and of the concerted efforts of all construction units. It marks a milestone of the project construction and lays a solid foundation for follow-up construction. Mr. Zhang hoped that all the workers would continue to work hard, ensure the quality of the project, tighten security control and deliver the project as scheduled.

District head Fang Shizhong warmly congratulated on the capping and promised that Baoshan district would actively support the construction of Shanghai S&T Innovation Center and do whatever it could to boost the creativity and transform and upgrade local economy.

President Xu Biao of Shanghai Construction No.1 (Group) Co., Ltd. said that his company was confident in and capable of advancing the project in an orderly manner and building it into a model project with the relentless pursuit of excellence and outstanding capability of engineering, procurement and construction.

Last but not least, CMEC President Zhang Chun announced the capping of the Shanghai CMEC Square. As the fireworks were shot to the sky, the last bucket of cement was hoisted until it hanged above the 23rd floor and then was slowly unloaded to complete the ceremony.

The capping of the main structure scores a big victory for the project. The project team in Shanghai is determined to follow the instructions of the corporate leadership, maintain the strong sense of responsibility, strengthen overall management of the project in a meticulous and down-to-earth way, ensure the quality of mechanical and electrical installation and decoration and the on-time delivery of the project, and make it a long-lasting pride of the company.
