Cathay Pacific Airways Limited announced operating results for the year ended December 31, 2016. For the year, the company carried a total of 2,958,925 passengers last month ­ an increase of 0.9% compared to December 2015. The passenger load factor remained at 85.0%, while capacity, measured in available seat kilometres (ASKs), grew by 1.3%. For 2016 as a whole, the number of passengers carried rose by 0.8% while capacity increased by 2.4%. The two airlines carried 174,415 tonnes of cargo and mail last month, an increase of 9.9% compared to December 2015. The cargo and mail load factor rose by 1.6 percentage points to 69.5%. Capacity, measured in available cargo/mail tonne kilometres, was up by 3.6% while cargo and mail revenue tonne kilometres (RTKs) increased by 6.1%. For 2016 as a whole, tonnage rose by 3.1% against a capacity increase of 0.6% and a 0.8% rise in RTKs.
