The Board of BB Healthcare Trust plc announced the appointment of Professor Tony Young, OBE, as a Non-Executive Director of the Company with immediate effect. Professor Young will also be appointed as a member of the Audit Committee and Management Engagement Committee following his appointment to the board. Professor Young is a practicing frontline NHS Consultant Urological Surgeon, Director of Medical Innovation at Anglia Ruskin University, President of the Institute of Decontamination Sciences, and National Clinical Director for Innovation for the NHS. He has founded four Med-Tech start-ups and also co-founded the £500m Anglia Ruskin Med-Tech Campus. In 2014, he was appointed as National Clinical Director for Innovation at NHS England, and in February 2016 became the first National Clinical Lead for Innovation. In this role, he provides clinical leadership and support in delivering improved health outcomes in England and drives the uptake of proven innovations across the NHS as well as promoting economic growth through innovation. In 2015, Professor Young founded the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme. Professor Young was previously a member of the Royal College of Surgeon's Commission on the Future of Surgery (2017 - 2018). In the 2019 New Year's Honours list, Professor Young was awarded the OBE for services to clinical leadership. Antony ("Tony") John Young was a director of Enterprise Medical Limited and Sterile Scopes Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of Enterprise Medical Ltd) both of which were placed into administration in 2012.
