Bank of San Francisco announced that it is expanding beyond its hometown for the first time since its founding in 2005, with plans to open an office in Walnut Creek. In the first quarter of 2019, the bank plans to open a loan production office in Walnut Creek, which is often a precursor to a full-service branch.

Bank of San Francisco also added two banking veterans to its board this year. The bank added to its board Tom Leavitt, a founding board member of Puget Sound Bank, which was acquired. He is currently CEO of Leavitt Capital Cos. Bank of San Francisco also added Jeffrey Cheung to its board. Cheung is a familiar face in Bay Area banking circles. He worked with the husband-and-wife team of Tom Steyer and Kat Taylor to open what is now Oakland-based Beneficial Bank. He was also president and CEO of Gateway Bank in Oakland before taking on his current role as managing director of Cheung Advisory Services.
