Aramark will upgrade accommodations, visitor services, and sustainability at two scenic destinations.
Highlights:
* Aramark Destinations is known for delivering memorable experiences at national and state parks, national forests, conference centers, specialty hotels, museums, and other tourist destinations throughout the U.S.
* Among the properties at which Aramark delivers authentic and inspiring activities and accommodations are the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park and Zephyr Cove Resort at Lake Tahoe.
* This year, Aramark was awarded contracts to continue and expand operations at both destinations.
The North Rim of the Grand Canyon, welcomes approximately 400,000 Grand Canyon National Park visitors each year. Sitting at 8,000 feet in elevation, Grand Canyon Lodge guests are greeted by breathtaking views of the canyon.
With a new contract awarded by the National Park Service (NPS), Aramark Destinations, operating as North Rim Hospitality, LLC, will continue to manage the visitor services at Grand Canyon Lodge, the General Store, and other services including new tours and shuttle services while also introducing a number of upgrades, innovative programs, and sustainability initiatives to enhance the guest experience, including:
Refurbishments to the motel rooms, the addition of affordable hostel rooms, and an expansion of product and casual dining options at the General Store.
Operation of a new electric bus shuttle system to popular overlooks and trails, one that will reduce traffic, provide improved access for visitors with mobility impairments, and offer guided tours on the buses themselves.
Measures to reduce single-use plastics offered at the park.
Aramark Destinations began operating at the North Rim in April 2023 when it acquired the contract from Forever Resorts. The new 15-year contract will start on Jan. 1, 2024.
ZEPHYR COVE RESORT & ZEPHYR SHOALS AT LAKE TAHOE
A historic and scenic retreat since 1862, Zephyr Cove, Nevada, is named for the gentle westerly winds that arrive in the afternoons across the Sierra Nevada.
Aramark Destinations has managed services at Zephyr Cove Resort for 23 years, and was awarded a new contract by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit to continue management of Zephyr Cove Resort at Lake Tahoe, which includes watercraft rentals, lodging, a gift shop, dining, boat tours, a campground, and an RV park.
Aramark Destinations is planning to upgrade the Sunset Bar & Grill by expanding the deck area and adding new food & beverage menu items at Zephyr Cove Resort.
As part of the new contract, Aramark Destinations will also provide services and land management of the Zephyr Shoals area located north of the resort. A 20-year special use permit that begins on Nov. 1, 2023, will allow for additional camping and 'glamping' sites, new interpretive trails, expanded visitor parking, and a special event space at Zephyr Shoals.
