New Jersey American Water is saying thank you to some of the brave and heroic volunteer firefighters and first responders through its 2016 grant program for volunteer fire departments and emergency responders (e.g., ambulance and first aid squads) located in the company’s service areas.

Grants will be awarded to cover the costs associated with purchasing personal protective gear, communications equipment, firefighting tools, water handling equipment, training and related activities/materials that will be used to support their operations. The maximum grant amount is $1,000. The deadline to apply is March 4, 2016; grantees will be announced by the end of March.
