Altern Energy Limited reported un-consolidated and consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended December 31, 2016. For the quarter, on un-consolidated basis, the company reported revenue-net of PKR 489.102 million against PKR 275.209 million a year ago. Profit from operations was PKR 52.228 million against PKR 30.692 million a year ago. Profit before taxation was PKR 50.294 million against PKR 22.406 million a year ago. Profit after taxation was PKR 50.294 million or PKR 0.14 per basic and diluted share against PKR 24.752 million or PKR 0.07 per basic and diluted share a year ago.
For the six months, on un-consolidated basis, the company reported revenue-net of PKR 1,059.387 million against PKR 810.773 million a year ago. Profit from operations was PKR 145.005 million against PKR 135.642 million a year ago. Profit before taxation was PKR 139.872 million against PKR 100.180 million a year ago. Profit after taxation was PKR 139.849 million or PKR 0.38 per basic and diluted share against PKR 102.336 million or PKR 0.28 per basic and diluted share a year ago.

Profit attributable to equity holders of the parent was PKR 1,373.777 million or PKR 3.78 per basic and diluted share against PKR 1,115.613 million or PKR 3.07 per basic and diluted share a year ago.
Altern Energy Limited is a Pakistan-based company. The principal activity of the Company is to build, own, operate and maintain a gas-fired power plant having a gross capacity of about 32 megawatts. The Company also holds direct and indirect investments in other companies engaged in power generation. The electricity produced is sold to its sole customer, Central Power Purchasing Agency (Guarantee) Limited (CPPA) through the transmission network of National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC). The Companyâs subsidiary, Rousch (Pakistan) Power Limited (RPPL), is an independent power producer having a gross capacity of about 450 megawatts. The principal activity of RPPL is the sale of electricity, ownership, and the operation, and maintenance of a 450 Mega Watts gas-based combined cycle thermal power plant located near Sidhnai Barrage, Abdul Hakeem, District Khanewal, Punjab. The Company's thermal power plant is located near Fateh Jang, District Attock, Punjab.
