Positive start in Piazza Affari in the last session of the week and the month that will see data on the U.S. May Pce 'core' index, the indicator most closely monitored by the Fed to measure inflation, take center stage.

Anticipation of today's data on price trends in the U.S. and some EU countries, along with upcoming elections in France, has led investors to keep a cautious profile in recent sessions, with some end-of-quarter portfolio adjustments.

As of 9:25 a.m., the Ftse Mib is up 0.22 percent.

The index is supported in particular by banks, which are regaining breath after three sessions of selling, and oil.

Prominent among the former is Banca Mps up 1.8 percent. The dossier on the Siena-based institution is heating up again with the expiration next week, on July 2, of the lock-up on the remaining 26.7 percent stake held by the Mef.

Among oil companies Tenaris rises more than 2 percent, Saipem 1 percent, and Eni 0.7 percent.

At the bottom of the FTSE Mib Terna, which gives up 1.7% after Goldman Sachs cut its recommendation on the stock to "Sell" from "Neutral."

In contrast, Brembo benefits from the "Buy" with which Deutsche Bank initiated coverage on the brake manufacturer and rises 1.7%.
