Centralized blockchain: the ambition is simply to compete with Ethereum. The network was launched in 2018 by Daim Larimer, the creator of the smart contracts platform wants to make it the global reference for decentralized applications. EOS promises to make it easy to build Dapps on its blockchain. For the record, its creator also launched Steem and Bitshares, two other cryptocurrencies that met with mixed success. The highly centralized system imposed by the consensus algorithm in place is getting bad press in the cryptosphere. The consensus algorithm is Delegated Proof of Stake (DPS). This has the advantages of being fast and economical, but its degree of centralization presents a significant disadvantage. Indeed, very few delegates are present on the network - there are 400 with 21 "block producers" - which jeopardizes the platform's security (particularly in the face of piracy).
