Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, today released the following statement on the Office of the United States Trade Representative's (USTR) decision to challenge discriminatory regulations of U.S. wine sales by British Columbia at the World Trade Organization (WTO):
'I am pleased that USTR has heeded our call to take this action to open the British Columbia market to U.S. winemakers. I hope this is only the first step for USTR as they work to expand access for U.S. wineries to all Canadian provincial markets, and work to ensure our New York winemakers can sell more of New York's great wines to tourists visiting our communities.'
