BEIJING, Jan 10 (Reuters) - China urged the United States to abide by the "one China principle" and stop arming Taiwan during two-day military talks held in Washington from Jan. 8-9, according to a Chinese defence ministry statement on Wednesday.

China also asked the U.S. to reduce military deployment and provocations in the South China Sea, it said, adding that the U.S. should strictly restrain its front-line forces and stop hyping up security issues.
