Mr. Amitage-Smith joined Shearson Lehman Bros in 1986 to work in Bond Sales to the Middle East.
In 1990, he moved to the investment arm of Saudi American Bank where he co-managed the $400m Multi Currency Global Fixed Income Fund for SAMA (Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency).
SAMBA Capital Management was the top-ranking of SAMA's multi-currency global fixed income managers from inception in November 1991 until 1995.
Mr. Amitage-Smith left SAMBA in August 1994 to join Citi-FX, where he spent 14 years in a hybrid role as prop trader/analyst.
He traded on the prop desk and also managed the Citi-FX Technical Analysis Group from 1999-2002, regularly giving technical forecasting seminars around the world.
From September 2002, he was solely dedicated to prop trading at Citibank in FX and macro-related strategies.
Mr. Amitage-Smith graduated in 1986 from Cambridge University with First Class Honours in Arabic & Islamic Studies.
