Mr. Bataillon began his career as an entrepreneur, first serving as Chief Executive Officer of the image-processing software firm Symah Vision (1990-1993), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Lagardère group.
He next led the turnaround of the French subsidiary of International Data Group (1996-1999), the world's leading publisher of computer magazines and newspapers, and then went on to found Transactive Solutions Inc., a direct-marketing firm based in Boston, which he sold to Bertelsmann in 2000.
Mr. Bataillon graduated from the ESSEC business school in France in 1990 and then went on to Harvard Business School where he graduated with an MBA in 1994.
