Mr. Boris Fedorov died in November 2008.
A prominent Russian economist, reformer and businessman, he was the founder of UFG and UFG Asset Management, as well as the Senior Managing Partner of UFG Private Equity Fund.
Since 2000 he had been a member of the Board of directors of Gazprom.
He was also a member of the boards of directors of Russian companies such as Ingosstrakh and Sberbank.
In 1994, Boris Fedorov founded the United Financial Group, which grew to become Russia’s leading investment bank (acquired by Deutsche Bank in 2005, now Deutsche UFG).
Mr. Fedorov was also an active political figure.
In 1998, he was Deputy Prime Minister and Tax Minister.
In 1994-1998, he was a member of Russia’s State Duma.
From December 1992 to January 1994, Boris Fedorov held the position of Deputy Prime Minister in the Russian Government, while, at the same time, from March 1993 he was the Minister of Finance.
In the beginning of the 1990s, he worked as Executive Director for the Russian Federation at the World Bank in Washington, USA. In 1990-1991, he was the Minister of Finance for RSFSR.
He began his career at the USSR State Bank in 1980.
Mr. Boris Fedorov graduated from the Moscow Institute of Finance in 1980, was awarded a PhD in International Economic Relations in 1985 and a Doctorate degree in Economics in 1990.
