XIRING : France's Gendarmerie Nationale Choose XIRING to Secure Access to Its Workstations

XIRING (Paris:ALXIR), a security solutions provider for electronic transactions, today announced that it has been chosen by France's Gendarmerie Nationale, following a public call for tenders, to supply smart card readers to secure its workstations.

The steady implementation of e-administration infrastructure in France has led to the introduction of tighter systems in terms of data security. Within this environment, the Gendarmerie Nationale launched a call for tenders to supply secure smart card readers to equip its police officers' workstations.

XIRING has won this four year public sector contract that covers the supply of 40,000 secure smart card readers in 2010, and the possibility of a contract extension to cover up to 100,000 additional devices.

The XIRING solution takes the form of a secure desktop smart card reader which is connected to the workstation, with embedded software compliant with the French administration requirements. This system enables to manage access rights to the services, for which police officers have authorization, via a strong authentication process. It also offers the possibility of signing an electronic document, such as a police report.
