WIZZ AIR : CELEBRATES 10th ANNIVERSARY OF ITS POZNAN BASE

Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, today celebrates the 10 anniversary of its Poznan base. Following Katowice, Warsaw and Gdansk, Poznan was the fourth Polish city the airline established base operations at on 31 January 2008 and now has two aircraft and 78 WIZZ employees based at the airport.

Prior to the base establishment, the first WIZZ flight from Poznan took off in September 2005. Since then, the airline has carried over four million passengers from and to the city, while constantly expanding its low-fare route network. With the new Dortmund and Reykjavik services, which will both commence in March, Wizz Air now offers 12 low-fare routes to nine countries from Poznan Airport. In 2018, Wizz Air will have 700,000 seats on sale on its Poznan routes, 20% more, than in the previous year.

On the occasion of its memorable 10-year anniversary, Wizz Air surprised all passengers travelling to and from Poznan today with a 10-Euro value voucher. The special gifts were handed over by the friendly WIZZ crew and can be redeemed on any of the airline's more than 550 routes.

Along with Poznan, Wizz Air offers flights from seven other Polish airports: Warsaw, Katowice, Gdansk, Wroclaw, Lublin, Szczecin and Olsztyn-Mazury. In 2017, 8.1 million passengers traveled with WIZZ on its low-fare Polish routes, 17% growth year on year. The airline's operations do not only provide affordable travel opportunities between Poland and the rest of Europe, but also stimulate the local job market in aviation and tourism sectors, supporting more than 6000 jobs* this year in associated industries throughout the country.

With 19 new routes commencing in 2018, the Polish WIZZ network now consists of 164 routes to 30 countries.
