Walgreens Boots Alliance is teaming with Verizon Business in a multi-year partnership to enhance the digital customer experience at more than 9,000 Walgreens and Duane Reade stores.

The WBA will deploy Verizon's Network as a Service featuring a rolling deployment of 5G in Walgreens locations, according to a press release. The enhanced network capabilities will drive an improved digital experience for the consumer.

"WBA's digital transformation is focused on modernizing and digitizing our company to provide customers with seamless and personalized shopping experiences, whether in-store, online or in the palm of their hand," Mike Maresca, global CTO, Walgreens Boots Alliance, said in the release. "We continue to enhance our business systems and processes both internally and with industry-leading partners to meet the changing needs of Walgreens customers and boost productivity across our workforce. Verizon's 20 years of experience in this space will help transform our network in the U.S. and also serve as a foundation for our future digital innovations."

WBA has a presence in more than 25 countries, employs more than 450,000 people and has more than 21,000 stores.
