FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - Shares in Verbio continued to plummet on Thursday. The shares of the biofuel producer fell by 9.4 percent to 16.55 euros at the day's low and almost reached the annual low of 16.50 euros from mid-March. At midday, the shares were still down by more than 7 percent.

In a commentary, analyst Cornelis Kik from Hauck & Aufhäuser referred to the continuing pressure on GHG quota prices. Greenhouse gas quotas in Germany fell to a new record low on Monday with bids of EUR 100 per tonne of CO2. Lower sales prices are weighing on Verbio's results. However, the analyst expects an improvement in the coming year.

Overall, the expert maintains his buy recommendation for Verbio and even signals almost doubling potential with his lowered price target of 32 euros. Verbio has lost around 45 percent in 2024./lfi/ag/jha/
