    WHEN:                     THURSDAY, JANUARY 31, 2013, 10 A.M.

PITTSBURGH - United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X) will be hosting a commissioning ceremony for its C Battery at the company's Clairton Plant. The commissioning is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 31 at 10 a.m. at U. S. Steel's Clairton Plant at the battery site.

Among those scheduled to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony are International President of the United Steelworkers Leo W. Gerard; Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald; U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy; Pa. state Sen. Jim Brewster; Pa. state Rep. Rick Saccone; John Surma, chairman and chief executive officer of United States Steel Corporation; Scott Buckiso, general manager of U. S. Steel Mon Valley Works; employees of U. S. Steel, and other state and local elected officials.

MEDIA NOTES:


    --  The event is scheduled to take place at C Battery.  Media must begin
        arriving at 9 A.M. for transportation back to the site.
    --  Photography - still and video - will be allowed along the Battery and on
        the Battery itself.  To participate, media must be in full personal
        protective equipment (PPE).  This will be provided to media who have
        RSVP'd.
    --  Media not participating in the photograph need to wear the proper PPE
        (provided), as well as sturdy, closed toe-shoes and long pants.
    --  ALL Media are required to RSVP by Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 12 P.M. to
        attend.
