Volunteer Day Activities at Trinseo Hong Kong Evolve Around Sustainability

In November 2022, Trinseo Hong Kong partnered with the Environmental Association and organized two educational volunteer day activities: a 2-hour sea glass upcycling workshop and a 2.5-hour coastal cleaning session.
The sea glass upcycling workshop was held to promote environmental conservation and upcycling, the act of reusing items that could not be recycled by traditional means. There was a 30-minute talk by an instructor from the Environmental Association on coastal conservation followed by an upcycling workshop using sea glass waste. Participants took home a hand-made light decoration as a souvenir.
During the coastal cleaning session, an experienced EcoGuide from the Environmental Association led an EcoTour at Ting Kok Coast East of Hong Kong. Participants cleaned up, collected 20 kg of waste, and helped to record the waste found along the shoreline in international standard (ICC), contributing the data for the world to see.
The activities raise awareness that ocean waste is damaging our local ecosystem, along with coastal areas, demonstrating that we must all do our part to conserve and protect our ecosystems.
