Second annual ultra marathon benefitting the families of fallen and wounded soldiers will be run entirely on the beach along Northwest Florida's Gulf Coast

Next month TOPS'L® Beach & Racquet Resort, a professionally managed beachfront property by ResortQuest® by Wyndham Vacation Rentals, will welcome runners and spectators for the Destin 50 Beach Ultra Marathon taking place Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012. The entire ultra marathon course is run in the sand along the sugar-white shores of the Gulf of Mexico, and participants are invited to run with or without shoes.

As the proud Co-Title Sponsor and Official Lodging Host for the Destin 50 Beach Ultra Marathon, ResortQuest Destin is offering discounted rates at TOPS'L® Beach & Racquet Resort. Nightly rates start as low as $80 per night for a studio suite at TOPS'L Summit or $96 per night for a two-bedroom unit at TOPS'L Tennis Villas. The 50-mile ultra marathon, a distance nearly twice that of a traditional marathon, pays homage to those who "go the extra mile"-the fallen soldiers for whom this race is run. All profits from race registration fees will be donated to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, a top-rated nonprofit organization that provides support and assistance to the families of wounded and fallen special operations military personnel.

The Destin 50 Beach Ultra Marathon will take place Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 with the start time at 5:00 a.m. and close time at 7:00 p.m. The start/finish is at TOPS'L Resort Fitness Center located at 9011 Emerald Coast Hwy in Destin, Fla. A number of additional race events will take place throughout the weekend including a 50K race, 50-mile relay, the Son of a Beach 5K and Son of a Beach Athlete Challenge.
