Benoit Assou-Ekotto wore a satisfied smile after his wonder goal against Everton - because he now has two goals he can show his children in the future!

The full-back's second goal for Spurs was even more spectacular than his first against Liverpool back in August, 2009 as we toppled the Blue half of Merseyside 2-0 in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

His first goal against the Reds was a screamer from the edge of the box, this time around Benoit took aim and ripped an absolute thunderbolt past Tim Howard from fully 30 yards.

More importantly, the goal secured another key win as we moved joint-second in the Premier League, level on points with Manchester United.

"It's my second accident in three years!" joked Benoit.

"Before I scored my first goal, I was worried about it. Before the first goal I thought 'maybe, if I score only score one goal in my career, it won't be enough to show to my son or my daughter later'.

"Now I have two, so I'm happier. It was a very important game and I'm happy for the team and for myself."

There was nothing on for Benoit as he received the ball 35 yards from goal.

"I looked to my right and I couldn't pass the ball. On my left, there were also problems. As a defender, it's better to lose the ball far away from our goal, but they could also counter-attack, so I thought I'd try and I scored.

"If you don't try, you will never score."

The importance of the goal wasn't lost on Benoit. "If you are a team losing 1-0, you will always have hope," he added. "This killed the game and the three points was very important."
