• Nearly 6,000 Hong Kong citizens participated in the 'Tour de Link' challenge - the first in-mall cycling relay event in Hong Kong

  • A total of 1,000 reduced-sugar mooncakes were provided to Lok Fu residents for their extraordinary group effort

Link Asset Management Limited (Link), the manager of Link Real Estate Investment Trust (Link REIT, Hong Kong stock code: 823), today (Thursday) announced that the 'Tour de LINK', a month-long in-mall cycling relay event, came to a successful conclusion on 29 August.

The event attracted nearly 6,000 Hong Kong citizens to participate in the 'five-minute challenge' of the 'Hong Kong Cycling Champ' competition. The total distance cycled at the end of the challenge was 7,324 km, equivalent to 1.27 round trips between Hong Kong and Tokyo.

The winner and first runner-up of the 'Hong Kong Cycling Champ' were from Oi Man Plaza, and the second runner-up was from TKO Spot. Lok Fu district accumulated the most mileage during the competition among the six participating districts.

Link presented each of the six riders who rode the farthest in each district, as well as the 'Hong Kong Cycling Champ' winner, the first runner-up and the second runner-up, with a folding bike and a medal.

In addition, to recognise Lok Fu district for its distance record and with Mid-Autumn Festival around the corner, Link offered 1,000 reduced-sugar mooncakes on the district's behalf the residents through five welfare NGOs in Lok Fu district. The five welfare NGOs are Ho Ping Neighbourhood Centre for Senior Citizens (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen), Kowloon City Baptist Church Neighbourhood Elderly Centre, Lok Fu Residents' Affairs Association, H.K.S.K.H. Wong Tai Sin District Elderly Community Centre and Hong Kong YWCA Lung Cheung Integrated Social Service Centre.

The 'Tour de LINK' was held in six malls across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories and consisted of two rounds from 4 to 29 August. The first round ran from 4 to 14 August at Kai Tin Shopping Centre, Lok Fu Place and Tin Yiu Plaza. The second round ran from 19 to 29 August at Oi Man Plaza, TKO Spot and Wan Tsui Shopping Centre. The competition was on a real-time basis. Individual and district performance rankings were displayed on TV backdrops in the malls, as well as updated on the designated event page on Link's community e-magazine Channel 823.
