~East Zone backed by TSAF teams' win 31 out of total 34 points, lifting the trophy, a 1st in the history of National championship~

~Siblings Anisha & Aman Verma win 3 Golds each in all the three disciplines~

The young 13-member contingent from Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) bagged 17 medals at the 25th Indian Mountaineering Foundation National Sport Climbing Championship that helped the East Zone lift the national trophy for the first time in the history of the championship.

Team TSAF's 31 point overall score in the championship helped East Zone's emerge as the national champion among the seven groups (North, South, West, East, North-East, Services & Police Force) that had participated in four-day event held at Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

TSAF, which started training young local athletes in Jamshedpur four years ago in sport climbing had sent a 13-member delegate to represent the East Zone at the annual Championship organised by Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF). Team TSAF comprised Astha, Abhishek Rawat, Aman Verma, Anisha Verma, Vidual Abhale, Jonga Purti, Suraj Singh Thakur, Kiran Singh Thakur, Harpreet Singh, Ronik Bandra, Kundan Kumar, Kumari Khushboo and Talim Ansari.

East Zone topped the winners' table with 34 points, thus beating the South and West Zone by a margin of 7 and 6 points respectively followed by North Zone which scored 20 points, North-East Zone (4 points), Services (3 points) & Police Force (no points).

TSAF's star performer Aman Verma made a clean sweep of Gold Medals in the Junior Boys category in all the three events that he competed in, matching the feat of her sister, Anisha Verma. Talim Ansari made a come-back after a year- long hiatus by reaching in all the three finals and winning a Bronze in lead climbing in the Junior boys' category. The rising star, Kiran Singh won her maiden medal in the national championship and scored Silver in lead climbing in the sub- junior girl's category. Jonga Purti too added to the tally of her two medals and won another Bronze on the last day in lead climbing in the junior-girls category.
