Legal Case Update

Spotless Group Limited (ASX/NZX:SPT) today provides a market update relating to legal proceedings in Western Australia.

In March 2007, Cyclone George caused significant damage to the Pilbara region of Western Australia near Port Hedland. A number of mining camps in the region were impacted, including death and injury of a number of persons. Spotless was a service provider to a number of these camps.

WorkSafe WA subsequently investigated the matter and in July 2008 charged a Spotless subsidiary with 16 offences relating to alleged breaches of the OSH Act (WA). Six other companies were also charged with offences relating to alleged breaches of the OSH Act (WA).

Spotless entered a not guilty plea to all charges.

On 24 May 2010, 14 of the 16 charges against Spotless were withdrawn by the prosecution. The withdrawal of those charges occurred just before the scheduled commencement of the trial of those charges.

Spotless has now been notified that the two remaining charges against Spotless have been withdrawn.
