New York Attorney General Letitia James has requested Madison Square Garden Entertainment, which owns Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden, to provide information about its facial recognition policy, raising the possibility that the policy could be illegal, according to an ABC News report.

The letter, sent Wednesday, also questions the technology's reliability and asks what safeguards are in place to prevent bias and discrimination.

Kelly Conlon, an attorney, was denied entrance to a Rockettes performance at Madison Square Garden the week after Thanksgiving after having her face scanned. Conlon reportedly appeared on an "attorney exclusion list" created by MSG Entertainment. The list bans employees at law firms involved in litigation with the company.

Another attorney was required to leave a basketball game last month for the same reason, according to a New York Post report.

MSG Entertainment disputed claims that the policy is retaliatory or illegal in a statement to ABC News.
