Climate change has caused huge impact on the environment, and "carbon reduction" has transformed from environmental issues to economic levels as net zero carbon emission becomes a sustainable goal promoted by both countries and corporates. In response to the climate crisis, Sino-American Silicon Products (SAS) and its semiconductor subsidiary, GlobalWafers, jointly responded to the "Earth Hour 60" initiative to be aligned with the global trend on the issues of energy saving and carbon reduction. On March 25that 8:30 pm, both SAS and GlobalWafers' Taiwan factories turned off the unnecessary lights and power-consuming equipment for one hour without affecting normal production, including office areas, parking lots, outdoor lighting sources, etc. Before the event, our employees were also informed and encouraged to turn off unnecessary power. By taking practical actions, SAS and Globalwafers hope to engage our employees to raise their awareness of climate change and to take part in securing a brighter future for our own and the next generation.

"Earth Hour 60" is the world's largest voluntary public welfare carbon reduction activity, initiated by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) since 2007. It has been known for the "lights off" moment, at 8:30 pm on the last Saturday of March every year, with corporates and individuals from around the world switching off their lights for one hour to show symbolic support for the planet. Over 190 countries and territories have participated in "Earth Hour 60" to make the public to understand the impact of climate change. SAS and GlobalWafers have joined the "Earth Hour 60" initiative since 2022. In the future, SAS and GlobalWafers look forward to working with our business partners to support carbon reduction issues and moving towards sustainable corporate development, making our earth a better place.
