Sigma Designs, Inc. Announces Collaboration with Dolby Laboratories

Sigma Designs Inc. has announced a collaboration with Dolby Laboratories to bring enhanced 4K Ultra HD, or UHD, and HD TV to consumers. Dolby Vision, now supported on the Sigma HiDTV PRO-SX6 (STV7603) and SX7(STV7701) Smart TV chipsets, is a new imaging technology that helps content creators and television manufacturers deliver a dramatically different visual experience - astonishing brightness, incomparable contrast, and captivating color - that brings entertainment to life via over-the-top (OTT) online streaming, broadcast, and gaming applications. By integrating support for Dolby Vision and the enhanced high dynamic range (HDR) visual experience the technology enables, Sigma's SoCs allow TV manufacturers, service providers, and content owners to deliver pristine content with astounding detail and realism.

These improvements in quality are critical for new and emerging services in both HD and UHD. The STV7603 requires an external FPGA and STV7701 provides a fully integrated solution.
