For the Cole family, farming has always been a way of life and, without a doubt, a family affair. Bobby Cole and his wife, Kim, own and operate ARC Cattle & Poultry Farms, an eight-house broiler farm located in Como, Texas. Their farm was built on family property, the same family that kept the farming tradition alive for generations.

While Cole wasn't always involved with poultry farming, he knew a lot about farming as his father, uncle and both grandfathers were farmers. Although he has only grown chickens for Sanderson Farms since 2019, Cole has been a cattle farmer for many years as were previous generations of his family.

'If you want to be successful, it will take years (possibly decades) of hard work and discipline,' said Cole. 'You have to know that the hard work you are putting in now will begin to pay off, and you'll realize that all that work got you to where you always hoped you'd be.'

Prior to his retirement, Cole served as a fire lieutenant with 22 years of service with the fire department. Now, he dedicates all of his time to his farm, with the help of his son, Alex, and his son-in-law, Doug Carden. His wife, Kim, works as an independent insurance agent specializing in insuring poultry farms.

Bobby and Kim have been married for 11 years and have two daughters, Erin and Samantha, and one son, Alex. In 2015, the family tragically lost their daughter, Allison Rae Cole, and they named the farm after her initials. By being successful farmers, the Cole family is honoring Allison's memory and sustaining the family farming legacy.

'Growing chickens is a great opportunity to build something special while spending time with family and building a successful business,' said Cole. 'Our biggest responsibility is to be a good steward of the land and animals, and to become more efficient at every opportunity.
