Atresmedia full-year results 2023

Audience leadership, growth across all divisions and an excellent cash position: Atresmedia reported its full-year results for 2023.

The Spanish media group reported net revenue of €971.4 million, slightly up by 2.2 per cent in comparison to the previous year (2022: €950.8 million). EBITDA was stable at €173.1 million (2022: €172.8 million) and net profit jumped by 51.6 per cent to €171.2 million (2022: €112.9 million). The increase was mainly due to lower tax expenses.

In 2023, Atresmedia underlined its market leading position across TV, digital and radio. Atresmedia Televisión is Spain's most-watched TV group, achieving a total audience share of 26.8 per cent in 2023 - 1.2 percentage points ahead of Mediaset, the closest commercial competitor. Flagship channel Antena 3 retained its position as the most-watched TV channel (total audience share: 13.3 per cent) and the leader during prime time (total audience share: 14.4 per cent).

In the digital sector, Atresmedia achieved 25.5 million unique online visitors during 2023, making it the leading Spanish audiovisual group on the internet. Atresplayer Premium, the subscription video-on-demand service, had a total of 593,000 subscribers at the end of December 2023 - a significant increase from the end of 2022 (up 38 per cent).

Other operational highlights include box office hits Vacaciones de verano (Summer Vacation), Momias (Mummies) and Como Dios manda (How to Become a Modern Man), which were among the top ten highest-grossing Spanish films in 2023, and Atresmedia's international channels, which now have over 60 million subscribers. In the radio sector, Atresmedia's three radio stations - Onda Cero, Europa FM and Melodía FM - were stable with 2.9 million listeners.

RTL Group owns a stake of 18.7 per cent in Atresmedia.
