HUNTSVILLE, Alabama (Jan. 29, 2016) - Rockwell Collins is showcasing advanced software applications at the US Army Aviation Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM).

The company is exhibiting at booth #6 on Feb. 2, 2016, in the Von Braun Civic Center South Hall.

New software capabilities on display include the first Required Navigation Performance Area Navigation (RNP RNAV) capable Missionized Flight Management Software Application (M-FMSA) aligned to the FACE Technical Standard.

Packaged as a reusable software product, M-FMSA provides full civil airspace interoperability while ensuring timely and efficient mission planning. It continues the company's 20-plus year history of supplying Mission Customized Civil Airspace FMS software across all branches of the US military.

Additionally, the company will demonstrate its Avoidance Re-Router (ARR) software application. Developed for use in the Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS), ARR provides pilot alerts of potential hazards along the planned route and suggests alternative routes to avoid them. The embedded real-time software application fully interfaces with the M-FMSA and is designed to meet the FACE Technical Standard requirements.

'We continue our focus on bringing greater capabilities to the warfighter in a more affordable manner through software products built to the FACE Technical Standard,' said Heather Robertson, senior director, Rockwell Collins Military Rotary Wing programs. 'These products are reusable in many avionics systems, including our open architecture Flight Display System used on the Army's Black Hawk helicopters and our Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) Small Mission Computer.'

The FACE Technical Standard was developed by the FACE Consortium, a government and industry partnership to define an open avionics environment for all military airborne platform types. Primary objectives of the FACE Consortium include creating reusable and interoperable software capabilities, while fostering innovation and competition.

Rockwell Collins is a sponsor and founding member of the FACE Consortium, and holds multiple leadership positions at the steering committee and subcommittee levels.

Leveraging over 15 years of open systems architecture development, Rockwell Collins continues to build upon its common, flexible and affordable solutions with new products aligned to the FACE Technical Standard, which has been designated as the Army Aviation's Common Operating Environment.
