REN joins 2022 Bloomberg Gender-Equality index

REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais has joined, for the second successive year, the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI). The 2022 GEI's edition, which includes 418 companies, from 45 different countries and regions, assesses the practices of the companies regarding gender equality policies, and the way they make this same information available to the market and to its stakeholders.
"At REN, we believe in the positive and enhancer effect of a gender equality culture. The inclusion of REN, for the second year in a row, in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index is felt with great pride in recognition of the work we have been doing to achieve a more balanced representation at every level of the organization. This is additional proof that we are on the right way", explains REN's CEO, Rodrigo Costa.
In 2014, REN publicly assumed its commitment towards gender equality issue, joining the Fórum de Organizações para a Igualdade (iGen). Since then, the company has been promoting and taking part in many initiatives and projects, such as the Target Gender Equality Program (United Nations Global Compact) or the WEP's (Women's Empowerment Principles) membership. More recently, stands out the support given to the Girl MOVE Academy project, distinguished with the UNESCO Prize 2021, and the membership to the "Engineers for a day" Project, coordinated by the Comissão para a Cidadania e a Igualdade de Género [Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality] (CIG) in conjunction with the Carta Portuguesa para a Diversidade (APDI).
Through the divulgation of metrics related to gender equality using the GEI's structure, all companies included in 2022 GEI's are compromised with the widely disclosing of their investment in gender equality, both in the workplace and in the communities in which they operate, raising the level of awareness to what is expected from companies in the same sector.
GEI is a reference index that should not be used as a financial benchmark and that does not have a numerical ranking. Only companies with a market capitalization of more than one billion dollars are eligible for inclusion in the index.

- gas (34.8%): transportation of natural gas from producers to end distributors and industrial consumers, underground storage of natural gas, receiving, storage, and regasification of liquid natural gas (LNG), infrastructure construction and maintenance services, etc.;
- telecommunications (1.3%);
- other (0.2%).
