Qualcomm announced on Tuesday that its Chief Financial Officer, Akash Palkhiwala, will now also take on the role of Chief Operating Officer, in addition to his current responsibilities.
Quoted in a press release, Cristiano Amon, CEO of the American mobile technology specialist, explains that his colleague has played a "key" role in the recent execution of the Group's strategy.
As the architect of the company's entry into new markets, the executive is well positioned to help the company capture new growth opportunities, he believes.
Palkhiwala was appointed Qualcomm's CFO in 2019, after a long career in finance at QCT, the Californian company's semiconductor subsidiary.
With a degree in mechanical engineering from India and an MBA from the University of Maryland, he joined the company in 2001.
