UNTERFÖHRING (dpa-AFX) - ProSiebenSat.1 is strengthening its own information offerings. The editor-in-chief of the Seven. One Entertainment Group, which is part of the listed media group, Sven Pietsch, told Deutsche Presse-Agentur: "We'll be producing and broadcasting news from our own newsroom starting Jan. 1."

In perspective, the broadcasts of the ProSieben, Sat.1 and Kabeleins channels are to be produced in a large studio, which is currently being built at the media group's main location in Unterföhring near Munich.

There will be no one-size-fits-all newscasts for all three stations; instead, offerings will be tailored individually to each station's audience. "We also want to become more local, closer to the people," Pietsch said. The digital presence is to be significantly expanded at the same time.

Until now, ProSiebenSat.1 has had its news programs produced externally by the TV station Welt, which belongs to the Axel Springer media company. The contract is expiring./rin/DP/nas
